What Is The Deadline For Filing My Appeal?
Generally, an assessment card listing the regular yearly assessment is sent to each property owner in January or February every year. In most cases, the appeal deadline is April 1, though there are cases the deadline may vary from January 15. Generally, if you do any major renovation, or the nature of a property changes (i.e. from exempt to taxable), during any given year, you may receive an added or omitted assessment.
Those assessments are sent in early November. An appeal of an added or omitted assessment must be filed before December 1 of the year in which you received the assessment.
If your municipality has implemented a revaluation or reassessment in the prior tax year, your filing deadline may be extended to May 1.
